Ta Da!! Table Repainted

I'm posting this to Met Monday over on Between Naps on the Porch. I love to check out Susan's blog and to see what others are up to.

Last spring I decided that I wanted to replace my old round, glass topped table from Walmart with a wooden round table. And I wanted it black! So the garage sale hunting started. We found several tables that were way too country for my taste. And we found a few that were way too expensive.

I mentioned to a friend that I was looking for a table and chairs. She happened to have an oak table with two leaves and six chairs! And she gave it to me. It was given to her and she was more than happy to give it away as she hadn't had it in the house in three years and was never going to use it. Perfect price!

I love the way it came out. I used Behr Paint in "Beluga". It was NOT fun painting the rungs on the chairs, and I still have two left to paint. I finished them with a beeswax/carnuba wax rub.

Thanks for looking. I hope you like them as much as I do.

  9. Absolutely fabulous!!! I always wondered what would happen if you took a oak table and painted it black. I love black but wasnt certain on how it would really look in my dining room. I knew that a touch of black is ok but this is very pretty. I love all things country and think this would be ok in my house. I have a new house and lots of white walls so Im working on getting some color to it and Im in need of a dining table. This gives me a really great idea. Thank you!!!

  15. Wow!!! What an amazing transformation! It's quite amazing the drastic difference that a coat of black (or white) paint can make to a piece of furniture. I know what a pain it is to paint those chairs! I always use spray paint when the color I want is available. But you did a fantastic job!!

  16. Wow, that turned out great. Did you sand or prime the table first? How hard is it to maintain the wax finish?
