Bleubeard and Elizabeth said...
I'm so glad I found you from a link at Twice Remembered. I'm in love with those cups in your blog banner. And that apron is adorable. I can almost feel it flapping in the breeze.

Congratulations!! Please comment here, Bleubeard and Elizabeth and we'll arrange a meeting between you and your lovely cottage apron.

Thank you all who entered. I've loved reading all your lovely comments.

Aprons for the Bride and Groom

A friend of mine has 3 boys and a daughter. They seem to be getting married in order. The third child is getting married this Saturday and although I'm unable to go to the wedding I thought I'd send a little gift.

I made his and hers aprons for their first kitchen together. His is a BBQ style while hers has the ruffle and long ties.

Thanks for taking a sneak peek.

Memorial Day Table

I thought it would be appropriate to do a simple table for Memorial Day. It is a day to remember those who have died in our nation's service.

The quilt is a large wall hanging I made using star patterns from Alex Anderson's book Simply Stars. It has fabric with the Pledge of Allegiance, vote, and elephants and donkeys. All perfect for election day as well.

The flatware is my everyday stuff, Community by Oneida. We got 13 place settings when we got married 25 years ago. However, not quite service for 12 anymore. Where does flatware go? I think in the garbage when overzealous visiting children helped with the table clearing.

I am linking with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Remember those who gave their lives so that the United States would be free.

Vintage and Reprint Half Aprons

As promised, here are some sweet aprons made from the stack of embroidered linens I purchased at garage and estate sales. You can see the stack here.

The first apron used half of a short table runner with little bluebirds embroidered on it. The edging is all hand crocheted. The blue print fabric is a reprint of a 1930's feed sack that was used in an actual quilt. I have quite a few of these fabrics in my quilt fabric stash.

Here is the other half of the same table runner. I used a pink waistband here and a different 1930's feed sack reprint. I think I like the rounded corners of the first apron better.

I adore the fabrics in this next apron. The top layer is dandelions! I know they are obnoxious weeds, but originally they were brought to the states as herbs, for medicinal teas. The bright pink floral is so cheery

The last apron is just fun. Stars with a yellow pocket. The band at the bottom is a fun blue print.

All of the fabrics I've used in the aprons is 100% cotton. I cannot vouch for the vintage embroidered items, but it is a good assumption that it is all cotton.

These will be available in my etsy shop today. Please check them out.
Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Mother's Day to all who are mother's or perform in the position of mother. You are so important.

Cottage Charm Giveaway

This giveaway is now closed, 5/29/10. Thank you all who entered. Please see winner in new post. (added 5/29)

Last year I discovered Twice Remembered's Cottage Charm Giveaway. I only participated by entering the drawings on different blogs across blogland. This year, I wanted to participate with a giveaway. Be sure to visit Twice Remembered to see what else is out there.

So for the month of May, you will be able to enter my very first Giveaway! Now, my house is not really cottagy. It is a California tract home decorated with the souvenirs and furniture that we purchased in the Middle East. I do enjoy the cottage style though. Daughter's room is now beach cottagy. I would love a sewing craft room all to myself that is cottagy.
But for now, I offer this cottage charm apron.

It is fully lined in white. The main fabric is tiny red pindots on white with a cute red pocket. I may add some more cuteness to it soon, maybe a fabric flower.

I decided to take pictures out in the grapevine. It has finally turned sunny, but we have a ton of wind, commonly called the "Delta Breeze".

To enter, all you need to do is leave me a lovely comment on this post. If you would like to become a follower, please do so. (No additional entry for following) The drawing will be May 29-winner posted here. Because this is my first time doing a giveaway, I am limiting entries to the US only.
And if you really like my aprons, please check out my Etsy shop. The link is in the side bar.
Enjoy visiting all the lovely giveaways and have fun.
Have a charming day,
Jeannine
