Finials

Today I feel like showing off some of my favorite items. I've linked up with Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.

This is a pair of finials that we purchased in Beirut, Lebanon. The church across the street from our flat was remodelling, it was only 100 years old. These were on the corners of the entry gate. Each one weighs about 100 lbs. We paid 5000 Lebanese Lira for them (about $2.50). I have them in my family room.

Thanks for looking at my show and tell.

World Traveler Table

I've linked up with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

I decided to create a World Traveler table this week for Tablescape Thursday. We lived overseas for two and a half years and Husband still travels around the world on his job. We picked up many things over the years and I wanted to showcase a few.

The brown tablecloth is from Damascus, Syria. The Anubis statues were purchased in Egypt.

The globe, on the other hand, we found at an Estate Sale last November. The plates are from a garage sale as well. We bought them for our son for his first apartment. I wanted to showcase them even though they are basic.

The silverware was a hand-me-down from my Mother-in-law. All the silver pieces were purchased at garage sales, for no more than $5 or $10 each.

I hope you enjoyed the table. I may just have to invite a few people over for a meal and good conversation.

Signs of Spring

I've decided to link to Cindy at Romantic Homes' Show and Tell Friday.

January always brings the blooming of my pink Camellia. It is absolutely covered with blooms. The only problem is they are hard to bring inside, they don't like to hold onto their petals once cut.

These are pictures from last year as we just went through two weeks of continuous hard rains here in Central California and the petals are brown or completely knocked off the stems.

The camellia still looks pretty even after the rain damage.

Soon the red camellia will bloom, along with the Hyacinths. Spring is coming!

Purple for Valentine's Day

Time once again for Tablescape Thursday with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

Purple is my favorite color.
In almost any shade.

So I decided to do a Valentine's table in purple.

Simple and Basic.

Not much to say about this, it just makes me happy.
Thanks for looking at my tablescape. Enjoy the day.

Tassel Blessings

It's been a long time since I blogged. So sorry. Christmas time brought our house from the two of us to having seven adults in the house, coming and going. We live in a court and the street started looking like a used car lot==everyone has to have their own car in California, you can't get anywhere without!

I was checking in on the happenings at Between Naps on the Porch with Susan. Of course it's Met Monday. I don't have any new photos, so sorry. However, I bought myself a new camera which I will be practicing with and posting soon.

Check out the Tassels from The Tassel House.

This is one I love
The colors are perfect for my house. I'd love to put this in my dining room.

Check out the give-a-way that Susan has here.

Thanks for visiting.

Christmas Tree

Merry Christmas! I thought it was time to share my Christmas tree. And other decorations around the house.

The Christmas tree is very important to me. My maternal ancestors were the first to bring the Christmas tree west of the Mississippi, way back in the 1850's.

This year we went with a Mardi Gras theme. The ornaments and bead ropes are all in green, gold and purple. We tucked white and gold poinsettias in among the branches. And Spartacus loves the tree as well.

Of course we love Disneyland, so there are many Mickey ear ornaments throughout the tree. This year I didn't put the chandelier crystals on the tree. I miss them but the tree is plenty decorated!

We love filling stockings around here. Me, Husband, Son and GF, Daughter and BF and Sister.

Christmas Table

It's a lovely day for a tablescape. I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.

The square plates are from Kohl's, Corsica brand. White napkins are from TJ Maxx, 12 for $12.99. Such a great price.

The white tablecoloth is from Damascus, Syria.

We spray painted boxes from Michael's. The chargers are from several years ago at Target.

Stainless is from my mother.

Silver is garage sale find. We've gotten a few of those recently. Candle holder was a gift from my honey. He asked me one day years ago if he needed to bring anything home after work. I told him a gift. This is what he brought! So sweet.

Hope you enjoyed my Christmas table. We are going to end up with two dinners, one for each kid and their bf/gf since they can't both make it home the same day.
