Large Dresser Re-Do

I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday. I hope you jump over to her blog and check out her story on patina and all the other great links.

We purchased this dresser last spring for $20 at a garage sale, along with it's bedside table. It was a great price and in great shape.

I sanded it down and painted it with a quart of paint from Walmart*. The color is rice cake. I wanted the white to be just a little aged to go against the yellow wall in Daughter's bedroom.

We bought all new drawer pulls for $1.19 each at Home Depot.

Total cost of project:
dresser $20
paint 9
pulls 19
Total $48

What a great deal. Of course now I've decided to repaint the bedroom this week to Embellished Blue 510D-4, a beachy color by Behr.
I hope to paint this week and get that posted next week.
Thanks for looking.

That is such a good deal on that piece, and you did a great job with the re-do. Can't wait to see the new paint color in the room.

XO,

Sheila :-)

How nicely your piece turned out. You've also gained quite a bit of storage!

It doesn't even look like the same piece of furniture! You did a wonderful job. I'd be proud to have that piece in my living room!

Sweet! and you sure can't beat the cost. They don't build nice wood dressers like that anymore.

Very nice...I have thought of doing that with one of mine....but I haven't been able to paint over the warm wood tones....I will have to consider it for a longer time!

Great job on that dresser! In the before it could have been my daughters dressers sister. We got one at a garage sale last may and painted it black with white pulls. Hers is tall instead of long but otherwise the same pulls and handles, same wood.

Can't wait to see your blue, I love "beachiness"!
