Blue Formal Table

Hello, all. I love being able to create tablescapes. Daughter's BFF lives with us on weekdays and came in last week and said she was disappointed: there was no new tablescape on the dining table! So this week I made sure to get busy and prepare one.

Today is Tablescape Thursday over at Between Naps on the Porch. Thanks Susan. Make sure you jump over there to see other great tables.

The dishes here are by Johann Haviland, Bavaria, Germany. We found these at an estate sale. They were sitting in stacks on a shelf and without even seeing how many pieces there were we told the man "sold". There are ten complete place settings, plus the serving pieces. All for $50. How could we go wrong?

We purchased these for Daughter. She loves blue and these weren't too "sweet". Perfect for a first set of china. Of course she won't need them for a few more years, what with finishing college, etc.
So....
Tablescape!

Thank you for stopping by to check out my blue table. Make sure you visit the other great tables at Between Naps on the Porch.

Jeannine it's gorgeous! Your flatware reminds me of some my grandmother had. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the napkins like that in the glasses. It's always so beautiful. This is really quite stunning. Sophisticated and formal - but it's still screaming sit down and enjoy me! Perfect pairing! Great job! I just posted pictures of my progress in the gardens. I hope you can stop by sometime and let me know what you think! Look forward to seeing you soon! Take care, A!

How pretty and how lucky your daughter is that you bought them for her.

Seeing this lovely tablescape reminded me I have these dishes in my garage. I had forgot all about them. I'm going to get them out tomorrow now that I see how pretty your tablescape is.

Hugs,
Joanne

Love this beautiful table. I have this same china, dinner plates and salad plates -- not nearly the complete set that you purchased for your daughter -- this makes a lovely presentation on your table.

What a find! I have GOT to start going to estate sales! The china looks so gorgeous on that blue tablecloth, and the napkins really make the crystal stand out. I know your daughter will love having these when she's ready to set up housekeeping!

Your table looks wonderful, very soft and serene. I have these dishes, too. We found them at an antique store. I was only able to get place settings for six but I did get some serving dishes. And I paid a bit more so you definitely got the better deal!! I just love mine. How wonderful that your daughter will get these!!

Love how you did your napkins and I like the lemons in the bowl for contrast. Nicely done! :-)

Beautiful table! I love your dishes and what a bargain you got! I have these same dishes with lots of the extra serving pieces. I just think they're so pretty. Go to Ebay or something and see how expensive they are! You'll go back and kiss the folks you bought them from! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

My Mom has been collecting these same dishes for years. I think she has service for about 20. A few years ago, our local grocery store carried this pattern as a reproduction. I purchased the soup tureen and soup bowls as I thought they would be a nice compliment to my Syracuse Wedding Ring china, and they do.
Thanks for sharing. I forwarded the link to my mom last night and she just replied to me that she was happy that someone else loves the dishes as much as she does. She also added that you are so much more creative than she.

Hi, your dishes are very pretty and looks on the table with the additional place settings just gorgeously. I like to combination with the soft blue tablecloth. And of course as a collector of rose patterned flatware, I love your flatware, too, although it is not of antiqued silver.
Greetings, Johanna

What a treat to see my china! I love the simple soft blue floral pattern with the touch of elegance of silver. I inherited it from my mom. We used to trade chinas! Thanks for sharing.
