Russian Tea Set

I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for my first tablescape for Tablescape Thursday.

In 1999, Husband and I went on our first two week Evangelical mission trip---to Russia. It was literally a life changing event for us. More on that at another time.

While we were there we were able to shop in down town Moscow, as well as see the sights. I found this cute little tea set in a shop and couldn't resist. I had to hand carry it home on the airplane. They had packed it neatly in a brown box which was tied up with string. I was afraid something would break, but all the pieces survived.

The set is for six, including cake plates. Today I've only set the table for two.

The tiny little dish in the center of the cake plate is actually a tea bag caddy. Waste not!

The sugar bowl is almost as big and the tea pot.

"Don't you think that Daisies are the friendliest flower?" Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail.

Enjoy your tea!

This is beautiful! I love the tea caddy and am surprised that more tea sets don't come with them! I usually just plop my on a paper towel 'til I'm ready for my second cup!

What a beautiful tea set! I like the tea caddy, too...I have several that I offer to guests, but they don't match the china I use, so it would be nice to have some that were part of the set. Very, very pretty! Happy Tablescape Thursday!

Lovely set! I, too, like to bring back souvenirs that can be used like this one. Thanks for sharing.

Hope to see you at Hyacinth For The Soul for some rooster fun and a toast to Julia Child.

Your hand painted tea set is just lovely. How nice to have this as a special family heirloom.

Hmm, it makes you wonder about the size of the sugar bowl...do they like sugar with their tea ;-)

(I posted my tablescape on my spindle cottage blog--but I do have other blogs...that blog is going to be mostly for house type pics)

Such a lovely tea set from your trip to Russia! I love that the sugar bowl is almost as big as the teapot! And yes, "daisies are the friendliest flower"....well, maybe after sunflowers, to me!
